PURPLE & PINK EYE MAKEUP TUTORIAL!
FT. URBAN DECAY SPECTRUM PALETTE &
THE
TOO FACED CHOCOLATE BON BONS PALETTE!
I only use one color from Spectrum, the rest is from the Bon Bons Palette!
I will be putting swatches of each color throughout the tutorial so if you don't have one or either of these palettes you can use colors you already own that are similar. I have reviewed both of these palettes throughout my blog so I won't do that here but here they are. And here's the swatches and names:
Eye placement:
Tip for a clean line if you don't trust yourself to be able to wipe it properly with a wipe at the end:
Also, unless otherwise specified use your crease brush in a back and forth windshield wiping motion just at the top of and above your natural crease. This widens your eyes, especially if you have hooded eyes. If you for some reason want your eyes to look smaller just keep it in your natural crease. THEN when you're in your outer third and outer V you will use your crease brush or fluffy blending brush or whatever brush you prefer and apply eyeshadow in small, fluffy, circular motions. Next, when you're applying to your lid (the inner two thirds of your eye lid), your inner v and your inner eye area next to your nose you will use a soft patting motion. In your arch, waterline, anywhere you put eyeliner, you will use a drawing motion. You will literally be drawing straight lines. You can use that same liner brush or thin shadow brush to blend the arch back and forth after that. In your under eyebrow area under your brow but right at the top of your crease color you will use a large fluffy brush and a soft and wide swiping outward motion. You will also always tap off excess shadow with each dip into your makeup because the idea is to slowly build and blend colors not accidentally add too much and try to figure out a way to fix it. It just looks nicer this way. Don't forget unless otherwise specified you always blend your shadows after application. If your asked to blend from the outer v into the crease you will start with small circular motions then move into windshield wiper motion. You always blend in the manner you applied.
Next add concealer on your lids to right under your brows. Then add a colorless eye or face primer to your brows and do your brows as usual and then set them with a setting powder and line all around the edges of the brow, but only on your skin with concealer and blend in carefully. All of these things help keep brows in place all day. Then add eye primer to your lids.
Step Two: With your crease brush grab Almond Truffle (Look above at swatches to see the color and find similar colors for this look if you don't have the palette from here on out.) And put just above natural crease line. This is great for giving more lid space and that's great for every one but especially people with hooded eyes. You will want to place it where it's pictured below.
Step Three: with the same crease brush you want to grab Mocha and put it in the same place but focusing this color more towards the bottom of the crease color we added previously like so:
Step Four: with your crease brush grab the most dark, vivid purple you own. In my case that is VooDoo from the Spectrum Palette and put it in Outer third of eyelid and into crease and just above natural crease:
Blend well. Always blend during every step.
Step Five: with the same shadow brush you just used grab the color Black Currant and put in outer third, outer V and outer half of crease. Than blend into crease all the way in to end of crease. Like where you see the purple here:
Step six: with your shadow brush put the color Dark Truffle in the Outer V. Make sure it's pretty dark. Then grab your blending brush and blend in small circles and then up into just the outer third of the top of the crease.
Step Seven: With your dense shadow brush grab the color Divinity and lightly pack on the inner two thirds of the lid up until the outer third color but not overlapping. Then over that with the same brush put Sprinkles over top of that.
Step Eight: with the same brush grab the color Totally Fetch and put in middle of lid. Blend the lid colors a bit but only blend them with each other just to get rid of harsh lines and the powdery look.
Step Nine: put Black Currant over the outer third again just to darken that color and then with a fluffy blending brush blend that outwards then into the outer half of the crease. Then grab a light dusting of mocha with that blending brush and lightly sweep it back and forth over the very top of the crease colors. Blend everything well in outer third and crease.
Step Ten: with fluffy blending brush grab the color Divinity and swipe outwards from top of crease color to under brow an on inner v and inner eye on side of nose to lighten things up. Then with a smaller denser brush grab Satin sheets and put in inner v and just under arch of brow. Blend lightly. Also put it in waterline near inner v only up until your lower lashes start.
Step Ten: Grab a liner brush and dip in Dark Truffle. Line inner waterline on top and bottom lashes called lining waterline on bottom and tightlining on top. Pictured below. Then put it directly on lash line on bottom lashes and top lashes as well if you want for a smokier look. For a cleaner look use it only on bottom lash line only and tightline with it on top then use liquid liner only on top.
No matter what you chose to do with the Dark Truffle liner you will now grab your fav liquid liner and draw your winged liner in.
Finishing: Add mascara. I add two coats each of two different mascaras since as you know that's my fav tip for big thick lashes. Doesn't matter what two you use but all makeup uses will be listed below. Then clean up with a wipe or tissue with baby oil or lotion on it under eyes and on side of eyes even if you don't see any fallout I promise it's there and this will brighten your eyes.
Then add foundation starting under eyes and middle of face going outwards down to just under chin line. Make sure you pat not wipe.
Then add concealer where you need it. I use it under eyes and on my acne.
Then add contour wherever you contour. I use it only on cheeks and side of nose because I like a more natural nontoured look for every day.
Then I add blush on apples of cheeks going outwards and upwards for blending it in but only apply it to actual apples of cheeks.
Add highlight. I highlight cheekbones, bridge of nose, mid forehead, and chin and cupid bow above lip and on temples.
Then brush on temples.
Then add lipstick and liplinee if you choose to.
